From frustration to freedom: The story behind Lightswing®
Sometimes, innovation begins with a small frustration.
In 2014, founder and engineer Paul Constandse had just moved into a new home with his wife. While rearranging their dining table for yet another time, one issue kept returning: the ceiling light point was fixed, but the lamp was no longer hanging in the right place.
“There just had to be a better solution,” Paul recalls.
“And I knew I wasn’t the only one facing this problem.”
At that kitchen table, Paul began sketching. What started as a simple drawing turned into a design journey of testing, refining, and prototyping. The result was Lightswing®: a user-friendly and innovative suspension system created to solve a clear everyday need. No drilling, no moving ceiling points just a clever rail that lets your pendant lamp slide up to its full length and rotate 360° with ease. This effortless flexibility brings true freedom and timeless elegance into any interior. Exactly what consumers were waiting for and what they still value today.
From one idea to a complete collection
The first product to launch was the Lightswing® Single, a sleek rail that gives one pendant lamp the ability to move, adapt, and shine where you need it most. Its slim profile and timeless finish made it a favourite for interior enthusiasts looking for both flexibility and style.
Soon after, the Lightswing® Twin followed, designed for two pendant lamps, often used above dining tables or kitchen islands. It offers balance, symmetry, and atmosphere, all while keeping the freedom to move the light point as layouts change.
After that we discovered that some interiors call for something different. While the Single and Twin are ideal for one or two pendant lamps, the Lightswing® Zero is specially designed for linear lamps, ceiling bars, or 3-light pendants. An elegant and smart solution that makes hanging these lamps easier and more stylish.
And then came a milestone: our very first collaboration.
The Lightswing® Pendant Light Novo represents a new chapter in our story. Designed in collaboration with Dutch design studio Van Tjalle & Jasper and made in the Netherlands, the Novo combines Dutch Design with innovative flexibility. With its refined smoked-glass shade and elegant silhouette, it integrates effortlessly with the Lightswing® system. And even on its own, it’s a statement piece that brings timeless atmosphere to any room.
From the Single to the Twin, the Zero, and now the Novo, each step in our journey reflects the same philosophy: lighting that adapts to your life, not the other way around.
