Lightswing® guide: choose the best model for your dining table

Not sure which Lightswing® is right for your dining table? You’re not alone. The best choice mainly depends on the length of your table and whether you want to use one or two pendant lights.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything step by step, so you know exactly what works for your setup.

Which Lightswing® matches your table size?

The length of your dining table plays a key role in choosing the right model. Especially with longer tables, proportions matter for both the overall look and the distribution of light.

Tables up to 200 cm

Do you have a dining table of around 160 to 200 cm?

In most cases, the Lightswing® Twin 90 cm is the best choice.

  • The lights are positioned 90 cm apart
  • Creates a compact and balanced look
  • Ideal for medium-sized tables

Prefer one pendant light instead?
You can also choose a Lightswing® Single.

Tables 200 cm and longer

Do you have a dining table of 200 cm or more?

Then the Lightswing® Twin 110 cm is usually the better option.

  • The lights are positioned 110 cm apart
  • Provides a more even distribution of light
  • Creates a calmer, more spacious look

If you prefer one pendant light, the Lightswing® Single 110 cm is the most suitable choice. However, for longer tables, two lights usally work better.

Should you choose one or two pendant lights?

Besides the size of your table, the number of lights also makes a big difference.

Choose one pendant light if you:

  • want a clean, minimalist look
  • have a statement lamp you want to highlight
  • have a smaller or round table

Choose two pendant lights if you:

  • have a longer dining table
  • want a more even light distribution
  • are looking for more balance in the space

What size pendant light should you choose?

Getting the proportions right is key to a well-balanced look.

  • Choose a lamp that is about 50–75% of your table width

In most cases, this means:

  • 40 to 60 cm (when using one pendant)
  • 30 to 40 cm diameter per lamp (when using two lights)

Example:
For a table of 200 cm, two pendant lights of around 30–40 cm usually work best.

Distance between the lights

When using a Lightswing® Twin, the distance between the lights is fixed:

  • Twin 90 cm → 90 cm between the lights
  • Twin 110 cm → 110 cm between the lights

The size of your pendant lights determines how much space remains between them.

Example with 40 cm lamps:

  • Twin 90 cm → approx. 50 cm space in between
  • Twin 110 cm → approx. 70 cm space in between

A wider spacing creates a calmer look, while a smaller distance feels more compact.

Practical tips for the right setup

With the right combination of Lightswing® and pendant lights, you create a setup that looks balanced and stays flexible as your interior evolves.

Which pendant light is suitable for the Lightswing®?

Are you unsure which pendant light is suitable for the Lightswing®? Or are you looking for a light that you can easily reposition without having to reinstall it?

Not every pendant light is compatible with the Lightswing®. The good news is that it’s easy to check whether your current light is suitable.

In this blog, we guide you through exactly what to look for when choosing a pendant light for the Lightswing®, including weight, connection, and type of light.

When is a pendant light suitable for the Lightswing®?

A pendant light is suitable for the Lightswing® if it meets three key requirements: the correct weight, one power cable, and no built-in electronics.

1. The correct weight

Each Lightswing® has a maximum load capacity, which varies by model:

For linear or heavier lighting, there is a separate solution:

This model is specifically designed for bar lights or linear pendant lights and is often used above long dining tables or kitchen islands.

Why this matters:
Each Lightswing® is designed to support a specific maximum weight. Exceeding this limit can affect both the stability and safety of the system.

With the 110 cm version, the lamp is positioned further away from the pivot point. This creates more leverage, which is why the maximum load capacity is lower.

For additional stability, especially when using the full length, it is recommended to use the levelling foot. This helps distribute the weight and keeps the Lightswing® stable during use.

Tip: Always check the weight of your light in the product specifications.

2. One power cable

The Lightswing® uses one central connection via the Quick Release.

This means that a suitable pendant light must have one power cable. Lights with multiple cables or separate connection points are not compatible.

Does your light include a decorative chain or an additional support cable?
That’s not a problem, as long as there is only one electrical cable.

3. No built-in dimmer or transformer

Pendant lights with a built-in dimmer or transformer inside the ceiling canopy are not compatible with the Lightswing®.

Since the Lightswing® replaces the original ceiling canopy, there is no space for these components.

If you would like dimmable lighting, it is best to use a wall dimmer instead.

Examples of suitable pendant lights for the Lightswing®

Looking for inspiration? Many types of pendant lights work well with the Lightswing®, as long as they meet the requirements for weight and connection.

Glass pendant lights
Create an open, airy look with even light distribution. Clear glass creates a spacious feel, while smoked or frosted glass softens the light.

Fabric pendant lights
Provide soft, diffused lighting and create a warm, cozy atmosphere. Ideal for living rooms and bedrooms.

Paper pendant lights
Lightweight and perfect for minimalist or Scandinavian interiors. They offer soft, even lighting.

Rattan or bamboo pendant lights
Add a natural look and create a playful light pattern thanks to their open structure.

Metal pendant lights
Work well in modern or industrial interiors. Always check the weight, especially for larger or solid designs.

For example, choose a light, airy design in summer and a warmer, more atmospheric light in winter. With just one click, you can completely change the look of your space without having to reinstall anything.

Choosing a suitable pendant light for the Lightswing® is straightforward when you keep a few key factors in mind. By checking the weight, connection, and presence of built-in electronics, you can be sure your light is both safe and fully compatible.

Japandi-style dining room with a pendant light above a wooden dining table and chairs

A look inside a calm interior with Japandi and boho

In Linda’s home, different interior styles come together effortlessly, with Japandi and Scandinavian elements complemented by subtle vintage and boho touches. Thoughtful choices in colour, materials, and lighting make the space both beautiful and practical for everyday living.

Where different styles come together

Linda enjoys mixing various interior styles while never losing sight of cohesion.

“

“Our interior style is a mix of Japandi, Scandinavian, with a touch of vintage and boho. I love different styles, but I always make sure everything feels like one whole.”

This balance is reflected in the colour palette: pink, beige, brown and green appear mainly in the accessories, while light and dark wood tones alternate throughout the furniture. The space feels calm, without losing warmth or character.

A love for interior design

Linda’s passion for interior started at an early age.

“

“I loved making collages from magazine cut-outs of what I wanted my future home to look like.”

That creativity is still visible troughout her home, shaped by personal choices and inspiration drawn from Instagram. She is especially drawn to Japandi and boho for their calm, natural look.

Flexible lighting as part of the interior

Linda discovered Lightswing® through Instagram, and what immediately appealed to her was the system’s flexibility.

“

“It seemed like the perfect solution to me.”

Especially when plans for a dining bench came up, that flexibility became increasingly important. A different layout often means the lighting needs to adapt as well. Lightswing® offers that freedom, without compromising on design.

In terms of aesthetics, Lightswing® fits perfectly with the kitchen. Linda regularly switches between a rattan lamp and a sleek beige lamp, depending on the atmosphere she wants to create. Thanks to the Quick Release system, changing lamps is easy and does not require complicated adjustments.

“Just go for it. You won’t want anything else afterwards.”

Small changes, big impact

Although the dining bench has yet to arrive, Linda is confident that she will soon be making full use of the flexibility Lightswing® offers. Knowing that her interior can adapt to new furniture and changing needs brings a sense of ease and freedom to the home.

Favourite spot & a practical interior tip

Linda’s favourite place in the house is the coffee corner, with eye-catching tiles and her collection of HK Living tableware.

Her most important tip when decorating a home? Dare to invest in choices you truly love. Sometimes, several temporary solutions turn out to be just as costly as making one well-considered decision from the start.

How to hang a pendant light under a skylight

During the day, it is often the most pleasant spot in the house: the dining table beneath a skylight or rooflight, where you sit, work or eat. Thanks to the open design, plenty of natural daylight enters the space, making it a place that is used regularly throughout the day.

That changes in the evening. Without a pendant or ceiling light above the table, there is simply not enough light, even though this is exactly where it is needed in the evening. Hanging a pendant light under a skylight or rooflight is not always straightforward, as the electrical connection is often not positioned above the table and additional installation is not always possible or desirable.

Why hanging a pendant light under a skylight can be challenging

The most obvious solution is to install a pendant light next to the skylight. However, if the dining table is positioned directly underneath the skylight, the lamp often ends up hanging in the wrong place.

For many people, drilling extra holes or rerouting cables is not an option. The ideal solution suits your interior and does not require major changes to the ceiling.

A flexible solution for pendant lighting under a skylight

With Lightswing®, you can hang a pendant light under your skylight without relocating the electrical connection. The flexible suspension system is mounted on the existing ceiling connection. You can then easily slide and rotate the pendant light to the desired position, for example directly above the centre of the dining table, even if there is no electrical connection there.

Depending on the Lightswing® model, the lamp can be moved up to 93 cm and rotated 360 degrees, without making any changes to the ceiling.

Easy to install

Install the Lightswing® easily on your existing ceiling connection. Even if you want to hang a pendant light under a skylight where no electrical connection is present, the system allows you to position the lamp exactly where you need it.

The Lightswing® system is available for one or two pendant lights, in different lengths and colours, so it always fits your interior and lighting preferences.

From warm to bright: how to pick the right light (in Kelvin) for every moment

As the days get shorter, your rhythm shifts naturally.
You close the curtains a little earlier. Light a candle sooner. You move less, stay inside more.
And suddenly you realize: light plays a bigger role than you thought.

It’s not just where you hang your light, but also what kind of light it gives off that shapes how a space feels.
And it all starts with the color temperature of your bulb, measured in Kelvin.

You want to know the right color temperature in the right place. That’s why we made you a home ligthing guide.

Warm light for soft autumn evenings – 2500K & 2700K

You feel it the moment you walk in.
You put off your coat, it’s already getting dark, and without thinking, you flip on a light.
But the light that comes on? That’s what shapes how you feel.

In autumn, the light softens.
You’re not looking for something bright and functional you want warmth.
A glow that helps you unwind.

Bulbs around 2500 to 2700 Kelvin do exactly that: they cast a warm, almost candle-like atmosphere.
Not orange, not yellow just that gentle glow that calms the room. Your eyes will relax and your body follows.

Perfect for the living room after a long day. Or next to your bed, where you read a few pages before diving under the covers.
This is light that doesn’t just fill the space, it embraces it.

Especially in fall — when life naturally slows down a little — these are the tones that truly make your house feel like home.

The light that brings it all together – 3500K

The dining table changes in autumn.
In the morning, it’s where you sip your first coffee in the early light.
By afternoon, someone might be working there, laptop open, books spread out.
And in the evening? It becomes the place to eat, catch up, or play board games late into the night.

Here, you need light that can do it all.
Warm enough for atmosphere, bright enough to see clearly.
Not candlelight but still cozy.

3500 Kelvin is exactly that: light that opens up the space without taking over.
You see what you need to see, but the softness stays.

And if you turn the table a quarter to make things feel right (or to make room for guests)? Your light moves with it thanks to Lightswing®.

The result: a place where the day can begin and end.

Light that keeps you sharp where you need it – 4500K

Some spaces ask something different from you. Not calm, but clarity. Not atmosphere, but visibility.
Early in the morning, in the bathroom, when you are getting ready while it’s still dark outside.
In the kitchen, where you’re chopping, cooking, or cleaning or at your desk, where your mind needs to stay sharp, even when it’s grey outside.

4500 Kelvin is clear. No-nonsense.
It’s the kind of light that helps you focus, keeps you alert, and shows every detail.

And while it may not be the warmest, that’s exactly what makes it feel calming
because it helps you keep going.

It does exactly what you need:
Keeps your vision clear, your head focused, and your workflow steady.
Just light that helps you stay sharp where getting things done is the goal.

The right light at the right place

Autumn calls for lighting that matches the moment.
Soft where you unwind, bright where you need to focus.
With the right bulb and the right position, your home instantly feels better.

A new season, let’s make your home fall ready!

As the seasons change, so do we.
We slow down a little. Spend more time indoors.
We start to enjoy the comfort of home again.
Not just as a place to sleep, but as a space to really live in.

Fall doesn’t ask for a big makeover. Just a few small changes that make things feel softer, warmer, more relaxed.

In this blog, you’ll find simple ways to bring the feeling of fall into your home with cozy lighting, warm details, and small changes that make a big difference.
We will show you how easy it is to let your space shift along the season with your Lightswing®.

Lightswing single in a dining room

There’s a shift in the air

You notice it in the way the light shifts during the day.
In the way the wind sounds against the windows. Autumn doesn’t ask for big changes. You might switch out some lighter fabrics for something with more weight. Add a warm blanket to the couch. To light a candle before dinner and to stay seated a little longer after the meal is done.

Autumn let’s your evenings start earlier, with softer light and slower plans.

Lighting sets the tone

As the season changes, so does the way we use our spaces.
Your kitchen table becomes the spot for longer meals. That unused corner turns into a favorite reading nook. And the places you want light… move.

This is where Lightswing® comes in.
Your pendant light shifts with your rhythm. You can shift your light source as easily as you shift your layout. One day, it’s above the table. The next above the spot where you sip your tea, wrapped in a blanket and reading a book.

No tools. No drilling. Just one simple solution. Slide your pendant across the ceiling, or rotate it 360° to match your setup.
With Lightswing®, your light fits your space not the other way around.

How to bring fall in to your home

Fall styling doesn’t need to be loud or themed.
A few well-placed changes are enough to transform the atmosphere:

• Add soft textures, a wool blanket, velvet cushions, a thicker rug.
• Bring in warm, earthy tones like rust, mustard, forest green, and deep neutrals.
• Use dried flowers or branches in simple vases to bring nature indoors.
• Swap cooler lightbulbs for warmer tones, or use dimmable bulbs for a layered effect.

These little shifts don’t just change how a room looks  they change how it feels to be in it.
